Kids’ rooms

A large part of this catalogue is drawn for children. That comes with one rule about age that is not ours to soften.

What this page is. A summary of published paediatric guidance, with the source read in full and linked below. It is general information, not medical advice about your child, and it does not replace the instructions that came with your crib or bedding.

The boundary first

Quilts, comforters, loose blankets, pillows and non-fitted sheets do not belong in an infant's sleep area. The paediatric guidance names those items directly and gives the reason: entrapment, suffocation and strangulation, because a baby can roll into any of them and have their airflow blocked. The sleep surface should be firm and flat — a crib, bassinet, portable crib or play yard — with nothing inclined more than ten degrees.

Practically, that means the bedding on this site is for a bed a child has moved into, not for a cot. If you are shopping for a nursery, buy a fitted sheet and stop there; we would rather lose the sale than have you decorate a crib with a comforter.

A Parent’s Guide to Safe Sleep

Soft objects and loose bedding belong outside an infant’s sleep area: the list names quilts, comforters, pillows, blankets, non-fitted sheets and bumper pads by name.

The stated risks are entrapment, suffocation and strangulation — a baby can roll into any of these items and have their airflow blocked.

The sleep surface itself should be firm and flat, in a crib, bassinet, portable crib or play yard, with nothing inclined more than 10 degrees.

Prints that outlast the phase

836 designs here are drawn for children's rooms. The ones that last are the ones where the subject is real rather than licensed: a bear in a wood, a zebra, a galaxy, a horse. Characters date to a specific year of a specific childhood; animals and skies do not, and the same bed survives from six to twelve.

Let them choose, then narrow it

The bed is the biggest thing in a child's room and the one thing they will look at every night. Offer three you can live with and let the choice be genuinely theirs — and buy the form that washes fastest, because at this age laundry frequency beats thread count every time.
